Tiffany Knapp

Tiffany Knapp became a USRowing Referee in 2007 and has served on juries throughout the United States, including as Chief Referee for multiple regional championships and the NCAAs. Since obtaining her World Rowing (FISA) Umpire license in 2016, she has also had the opportunity to officiate regattas in South America and Europe, and was honored to be the recipient of the Joan Zandbergen ‘Mama Z’ Award in 2017. Tiffany began rowing in the early 1990’s and continued as a high school, collegiate, open, and masters rower. In 2000, she started coaching juniors and became involved in regatta organization and boathouse administration. Since then, she has coached competitive and recreational juniors and adults in both the Southwest and Northwest regions as well as served as regatta director, program director, and on the board of directors of several rowing clubs and rowing non-profits.

Melissa Chun

Melissa Chun joined the USRowing Referee Corp. in 2012 as a way to support athletes and give back to the rowing community. Ms. Chun started her rowing career 19 years ago as a coxswain for her high school team in San Mateo, Calif., before being recruited to the women’s rowing team at the University of California (Cal) and continuing on for a short stint as an assistant coach at a local junior team. She is a recipient of the Joan Zandbergen "Mama Z" Award in 2016 and acquired her international FISA Umpiring license in 2019.

John McKenna

John McKenna is from the Mid-Atlantic region, in Northern New Jersey. He has been a USRowing Referee for 13 years and is also a licensed World Rowing Umpire. He has been coaching scholastic juniors for the past 14 years, where he calls Overpeck Lake in Ridgefield, NJ his home water.
